Email Does not work as a construction project management application

Wednesday, May 30th, 2012

When I tried to email one of our clients a ppt presentation we are working on together I received the following message
***, Inc has “stripped” an attachment from this message because the attachment exceeds ***’s message size limitation of 20 megabytes (20 MB). If you need this attachment, please contact the sender and have him/her do one of the following:
* Compress the file (e.g., place it in a zip file);
* Use our file transfer (FTP) services.
Thank you, *** IS Support Center issupportcenter@***
This is a perfect example of why our clients choose EADOC to manage their construction project information electronically. With EADOC’s collaborative construction project management application users can upload files up to 512MB.
After receiving this message I logged into our clients EADOC account, uploaded the power point presentation and they were able to download it for review.

Operational Efficiency in Construction Management

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

Here is a great article about operational efficiency. The US Military has realized that they can reduce the cost and risk associated with supporting the fighting troops by improving the fuel efficiency of the vehicles the troops use. By increasing fuel efficiency they reduce the number and size of fuel convoys resulting in monetary savings in additions to saving lives of US Service Members.
So what does this have to do with a collaborative construction project management application, the key link being Operational Efficiency. With collaborative project management application you are reducing the amount of money and time spent moving data across your project team. The Military needs to supply the troops with fuel and project managers need to supply their project team members with information. Whether fuel or information it needs to be in the right place at the right time delivered in the most cost effective manner to meet the teams objectives. Project managers can not deliver their projects on time and on budget without correctly managing their construction project information in the most efficient manner possible. The US military’s FED Bravo is definitely allot more interesting from an Engineering perspective then information management but project managers have to keep focused on managing project information to keep their large complex projects on schedule.
